In today’s news : The Indian cricket team is back to normal.

Fans all over India were surprised and worried when the team showed spine and fortitude in the first two test matches against Pakistan. They need not worry anymore - our team is back to it’s normal, spineless best.

It was a match that was India’s to lose - and as a commentator long ago very smartly said “India has snatched defeat from the jaws of victory”. Most of us were thinking (hoping?) that after having Pakistan on the mat at 39/6 that we could actually win the match. But it seems there’s something missing in the team composition - killer instinct. The opponent is on the mat and you just have to take a breather. Well, they recover and post 245. Round 1 winner : Pakistan.

To add insult to injury, the team which chased mammoth totals in the previous matches thought 245 was below their dignity and wound up with a total less than 245. They managed only 238.
The winner of Round 2 : Pakistan.

Then there was carnage. The Pakistani batsmen came out with an agenda and the batting firepower to back it up. By the end of day 3 they had sent the Indian bowlers all over the park and amassed 511/5. Day 4 saw more of the same treatment handed out to our bowlers till they finally took pity on us and declared at 599/7. Round 3 : Pakistan

This meant that India needed to score 606 runs in 164 overs - or just survive for one and a half days of play. No one told the players that it was a *day* and a half. They all got out in half a day after making a grand total of 265. A crushing victory for Pakistan by 341 runs - and more importantly a psychological victory as they beat us with a day to spare.

And the winner by a knockout : the Pakistan cricket team.

Why do we even bother…
(Don’t mind my rant - not in a good mood right now)
