I suspect a push from somewhere higher up (the Church maybe) has caused the torrents of bad reviews. The thing is this is the most faithful reproduction of a book I have seen in a movie. So it really couldn't have gone too far wrong if people thought the book was good (and major reviews on the book were decent). Yet another thing that supposedly bugs Americans is that in the movie, only Langdon speaks with an American accent. I'd say the movie deserves its IMDB rating of 6.5 - which I tend to believe more than reviewers. Wasn't too great but nothing bad either - decent watch for an evening's entertainment.
